Youth & Kids at Bethel Church

PASTOR’S PEEPS: Pastor Robin has a deep interest in spiritual formation and believes our kids need to learn about practices that will help them to be live into the image of God in which they were created. She started Pastor’s Peeps, which uses an Upper Room resource to help teach our kids contemplative practices, like journaling, meditating with sand, sitting silently in God’s presence, reading, praying for our world, and meditating with art. They meet for a few weeks 2-3 times a year with Pastor Robin, which also gives them a chance to develop a relationship with her.

We love our Bethel youth and children!

Our children and youth are fully integrated into the life of our congregation. They participate in worship on Sundays, in intergenerational activities like game nights and our recent Advent mason jar craft event. We have a blessing of the backpacks at the start of every school year, and this year each of our kids prepared three bookmarks with their name, grade in school, things they like to do, and any prayer requests they had for the year. They passed out the bookmarks in worship, and those who received them have been praying for their student this year, sending them cards of encouragement, and taking an interest in whatever interested them. Recently as a congregation we participated in a ReShape program to look at everything we do as church and discern what God is calling us to do as we move into the future. Our kids were a part of that process and gave their input, which we took seriously.
